My names is Courtney and creating has always been my happy place. I grew up poor didn’t have the option to watch My names is Courtney and creating has always been my happy place. I grew up poor didn’t have the option to watch trending TV shows, play video games or go on vacations. When I wasn’t playing outside, my “vacations” were where ever my imagination lead me. I would draw, paint, and save any materials I could one day use to make something amazing. My grandmother taught me to sew at the age of 5 and as I grew up, I used this skill to create pieces that allowed me to feel confident; or even recreating thrifted items to pull-off a somewhat name brand piece.
Art made a lot of things possible for me. It allowed me to go to college and create winning fashion collections. It allowed me to be the key costume creator for the award winning short film, Before the Fall. It won be a trip to Las Vegas after winning the Red Bull Art of Can competition. And it has allowed me a peaceful escape from the stressors of life.
I am now a proud Firefighter EMT, studying to be a Paramedic. Occasionally I experience an injury which means I have to sit still a while; and during those times, I dive back into my roots. My art work.
